Who are we?
The Lincoln Climate Commission emerged from a collaboration with the City of Lincoln Council, Siemens Energy, Transition Lincoln and the University of Lincoln.
Since then the group has expanded to include the valuable input from a range of businesses and organisations, as well as members of the public, who wish to work together to make a positive choice on issues relating to energy, carbon, weather and climate. The Lincoln Climate Commission is part of the wider Place-Based Climate Action Network.
In each newsletter, we'll introduce some members of the Commission and its working groups, so that you can get to know us better. Subgroups include:

Introducing...
Alex Foxley-Johnson (she/her) is a Communications Officer in the Sustainability Team at the University of Lincoln and is part of the Communications Subgroup.
Richard Jones, is Managing Director at EV Camel and Amelio Solar Energy, Management Consultant and Chartered Surveyor. Richard is a member of the Lincoln Climate Commission, with a focus on engaging businesses in sustainability.
Georgia Preece (she/they) is an artist, poet, writer, and environment editor for the Radical Art Review. She is a newly added member of the Communications Subgroup for the Lincoln Climate Commission.
Steve Kemp, Executive Director of Open Plan, is a spatial planner with over 30 years professional experience. Steve is a member of the Lincoln Climate Commission, with a focus on planning policy.
Climate Change Seminars at the University of Lincoln
Hear from some of Lincoln's experts in a series of free Climate Change Seminars, hosted by the University of Lincoln's College of Science.

In this newsletter, we're highlighting Rebecca Forster's talk on being Carbon conscious. Rebecca Forster is the Sustainability Manager at the University of Lincoln, and is part of the Lincoln Climate Commission's delivery group.
The practical talk above will enable individuals to consider the impact that their personal lifestyle has on the environment, including the basics of carbon footprinting. It is followed by some discussion and tips on how one may be able to reduce carbon emissions individually, to collectively support climate action.
The Sustainability Toolkit
The Lincoln Sustainability Toolkit has been created by the Lincoln Climate Commission as a one stop guide to all things sustainable. It includes everything from saving energy to reducing plastics at home. Learn about local cycle routes and how to easily transition from carbon consumer to carbon saver.
The Sustainability Toolkit will be updated regularly to reflect changes across the sector.
Events
The Lincoln Climate Commission is currently planning Climate Assembly Workshops to take place in Summer 2021. Details of these events will be released soon.
We want to make it easy for people to find climate action related events in Lincolnshire, so if you have a free event you'd like us to share on our website, please contact us with the date, time and a short summary of the event.
Research Subgroup
Working with the Commission and other subgroups, the aim of the Research Subgroup is to provide research data, using a bottom up approach, to support and guide the work of the Commission.
With the recent approval of £19 million from the Towns Fund, we will be providing research to ensure that the grant is spent in line with the objectives of the Climate Commission.
Funding has been provided for the formation of a Climate Assembly and our subgroup will be providing support for this undertaking, due to kick off by the end of March.
Students from the University of Lincoln are supporting the group to update the Lincoln Climate Impact Profile to examine the likely future impact of Climate change on the city, as well as to organise into a user friendly format the wealth of information and links available as data sources relating to climate change.
Success Stories in Lincolnshire
The Lincoln Climate Commission is looking for examples of individuals, businesses, or community groups that have successfully implemented sustainability principles in the running of their homes, operations or engagement practices.
We would like to share these examples as case studies on our website, in order to inspire others to think differently about how they manage their environmental and social impact.
